Look at Love

Oskar Leonard

You are another sellotaped piece of lined paper adorning my hot-pink bedroom walls. Look at my collection—look at the friendships I’ve gathered in ink. Jada created nightmares out of childhood characters for me, and I coloured in the teeth. You say we’re not children anymore—I laugh, but that sentiment assaults me in darkness, forcing sobs onto my pillow. Adult sobs. Felt-tips dance across dead trees and I wonder if you remember the shaky love-letter written in German and passed under a desk. You don’t? No worries—it’s right there, next to Mötley Crüe. Oh—stay a while—please?
